Season 37 — 2012 - 2013 Inspired Listening
This year the Genesee Valley Orchestra & Chorus is marking its thirty-seventh season. This community group started in 1976 when we sang on a barge on the Erie Canal as part of the bicentennial celebrations in Fairport.
Edward Schell is our new conductor. An Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Rochester Institute of Technology, Mr. Schell is well-known to the Rochester musical community. He has conducted numerous ensembles throughout the Northeast and has served in leadership positions in the American Choral Directors’ Association, the American Guild of Organists and the Unitarian Universalist Musicians’ Network. We welcome Mr. Schell and look forward to an exciting new season of memorable and inspiring concerts.
Our first concert on December 1st is entitled With Joyous Note. In addition to several seasonal choral and instrumental pieces, we will be performing two pieces – one Baroque, the other 20th century - that are new to us. We hope you will plan on starting your holiday season with us.
On St. Patrick’s Day we will have a buffet dinner concert at Eagle Vale Golf Club with some traditional Irish favorites for your eating and listening pleasure. Come and enjoy our journey through Ireland and beyond in our concert entitled Look to the Rainbow.
On May 11 we will present Love, Beauty, Laughter!, a selection of music chosen from the 19th and 20th centuries, including music by a Grammy winning composer. We believe that this concert of great music performed by our chorus and orchestra members will be entertaining and inspirational.

Seasonal choral and instrumental favorites will round out this delightful holiday program.
